Strategy
Frontline Cartographer
★★★★☆ 4.4
Frontline Cartographer drops you on a hex map and asks you to expand, defend and outthink the AI without ever needing twitchy inputs. It's a strategy game that works beautifully with touch because everything is tap-and-confirm, no fiddly drag gestures that misfire.
Matches can be long, but there's a quick-skirmish mode for shorter sessions. The tutorial is a bit dry and front-loads a lot of terms, so give it a round or two before you judge it. Once it clicks, the decision-making is genuinely satisfying.
We left battery saver on during testing and the game handled it fine with no visible slowdown. A nice touch for a genre that usually assumes you're plugged in.
What we liked
- Clear tap-based controls
- Quick-skirmish mode for short play
- Runs well in battery saver
